Hi! Fantastic job on this website. I was just wondering if you had the location of where the SEA-ME-WE 3 cable leaves land after going through Goonhilly. I believe that this cable runs past my house in Cury nearby and leaves at Poldhu cove. I think this because my Dad worked at Goonhilly for many years and remembers this cable being laid and he is sure it leaves at Poldhu. Any help appreciated.

TAT-8 lands at Poldhu and the locked manhole covers can be followed back to Goonhilly. I asked an openreach guy about it and he clammed up and denied it was there. There is surprising little on the web about it and it it is not shown on any maps. One day I was looking on the Wave Hub website and they used an old cable map on their website which did indeed show a cable coming in at Poldhu so I payed it a visit and saw the tell tale locked covers. The route it takes to Goonhilly can be seen in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F26JEwCR35s

      Hi Mark,

There is a chart on the wall of the place we are staying in Cornwall this week showing a cable landing at Poldhu (dated 2003).

TAT-8 actually lands at Widemouth bay, and plenty of searching on Google have failed to unearth which cable this is.

I will create a new page for Poldhu and add some photos of the chart shortly.

      Steve.
