Does this station and the one nearby in Hightown service a different cable or the same one?

I would imagine this one belongs to C&W and serves the Swansea-Brean cable (and formerly the PTAT cable).

As the UK Project Manager for PTAT and the System Manager for the Swansea- Brean cable, I can confirm this building housed both systems.

Both systems were unique – PTAT because it was privately owned (Cable & Wireless and Sprint) and Swansea-Brean because it was the world’s first use of a special “skinny” cable. TAT-11 landed in Swansea, and this cable provided a wet interlink.

I have today had a nostalgic visit to Brean, and from the outside the terminal building looks in pretty good condition. A local told me another cable had been landed there recently (to Ireland?), but as I have been retired for over 10 years I have no knowledge of what that might be

        Hi Dylan,

The linked article suggests Highbridge as the landing point for this cable.

It is interesting to see a new duct is being installed, presumably seaward?

Hibernia Networks just built a CLS within the grounds at Brean leisure park, i believe Artic Fibre will use Tata’s ducts to their CLS in highbridge.
